More than 15 species of cactus family are categorized into
Cholla Cactus. Shrubby Cactus with cylindrical
stems of segmented variation is usually called
Cholla.
The stems are usually used as photosynthesis, flower
production and water storage. Cholla Cactus also have
sharp spines at their leaves and tubercles which is some kind
of wart projections on their stem.
Cholla Cactus covered with bright and colorful
thin sheaths which giving Cholla Cactus a very distinctive
appearance. Most Cholla Cactus is adapted to many
locale and different height however most of the Cholla
Cactus can be found easily in all of the deserts on
Southwest American. Dry soil, coarse and rocky slopes are
required by most Cholla Cactus to live.

From most research we found that Cholla Cactus flowers have
a lot variety of colors, some are orange and other with
yellow-greenish. While depending on season and local
environment Cholla Cactus will bloom
around April through June. Cholla Cactus spines and glochids
are also varied from width, length and color.
It is quite difficult to tell apart between one Cholla
Cactus species with another because Cholla Cactus can
hybridize, leading to intermediate forms. As a matter of fact,
one of the most discernable species of Cholla Cactus is the
Teddy Bear Cholla. With large, flat pads Cholla Cactus
considered to be really close related with the prickly pears
from Opuntia species.
